Imagine a world full of basketball players. This,I believe,
would solve all the problems we face as a society. If everyone followed the
“Ball is Life” lifestyle, it would mold people into decent, well-mannered, and
skillful citizens.
If
everyone played basketball, I believe that it would make everyone self-driven
and motivated. In basketball, a team of five players must score more points
than the other team. This helps develop a social acceptance for other people.
However, everyone’s goal is to be the absolute best player they can be.
This helps develop a sense of accountability and self-reliance.
When
a group of five players come together, they become united and act as one. “A
basketball team is like the five fingers on your hand. If you get them all together,
you have a fist. That’s how I want you to play,” says Duke head coach Mike
Krzyzekski. If everyone on Earth adopted this quality, several world problems,
such as coup de tats, conspiracies, and rebellions, would cease to exist.
Everything a player does on the court is for the betterment of the team. If
everyone became team-oriented, communities would come together and help their
fellow neighbors.
There is a direct
correlation between how much hard work, dedication, and practice you put in and
your performance on the court. The more time you spend in the gym, the better
you will become. As a result, if everyone in society worked on themselves, we
would have more leaders, hard workers, and motivated citizens. If everyone had
the same resolve as the most dedicated and driven basketball players, people
would strive and compete to be the very best in what they do.
Another
great quality that basketball players have is they are all in great shape. If
everyone in society became a basketball player, the growing obesity epidemic
would cease to exist. Other diseases associated with being overweight would
also begin to decline. Basketball saved me from becoming obese. I used to live
a very sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. One day my friend took me to the park
so we could hoop. I instantly fell in love with the game. I played constantly
and the weight started falling off. I went from being 209 lbs. to 170 lbs. in
just one summer.
Basketball
made a huge difference in my life. It was the platform in which I was able to
get healthy, make lifelong friends, and finally develop a sense of belonging. It also helped me to become a better person and focus on the important things in life If everyone on Earth became a basketball
player, I believe it would solve all the problems and issues we face as
society.
